Allen has worked for 20+ years as a creative director, content strategist, writer, editor and producer in print, web, app, interactive and video/film media. Staff writing, editing and producing gigs have been with Uber, Microsoft, MSNBC, Sidewalk/Citysearch, PhotoDisc/Getty Images, Curiosity Group, Experience Lab, Elemy and Tempo.
His writing has appeared in Salon, Rolling Stone and Advertising Age, among other publications, and clients have included Adobe, Apple, Cambia Health Solutions, Dell, Disney, DreamWorks, Group Health Cooperative, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Microsoft Press, Nike, Norm Thompson Outfitters, Oregon Humane Society, Portland Trail Blazers, Providence Health & Services, Royal Robbins, Sony and Warner Bros.
Allen has BAs in English and advertising/journalism from San Diego State University. His eco-educational YA novel — about an imaginative boy (Darby Peacock), his missing-presumed-drowned father and a telepathic Sasquatch tribe, all set in a fictional ex-logging township, Ravenswood, on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula — is in progress. He’s also presently engaged in developing an outdoor-activities-themed mobile app (Adventure Payoff!).
